success [Nov. 27th, 2006|03:35 pm]
Well it looks like the party went off pretty well.

Highlights:

-I won at poker. Twice.
-I relocated all my weapons and ammunition...this was a good idea.
-No one got arrested or shot (that I know of).
-Half the people I expected to be there were no-call, no-shows.
-It went to 7:00am.
-We drank the vast majority (I think close to all) of a half barrel of beer (15.5 gallons).
-One person drank an entire fifth of Smirnoff.
-The above person also partied until 5:00am. Staggering.
-My mom bitched about the steak I cooked for her. It was a good steak, too.
-Two words: Fog Machine.
-Two more words: Lights off.
-Two final words: Smoke detectors going off at 6:00am in unison...all 5 of them.
-Muscle relaxers + 24 ounce bottomless mug-o-beer (refilled at least 8 times) + weed + white powder = one fucked up neighbor.

Despite my expectations getting crushed, I had a kick ass time and accomplished what I set out to do (aside from killing the keg).

February is the next tentative month for a party. I think poker, ice walking, and another tap is in order.

Detroit Zoo [Feb. 21st, 2006|08:56 am]
What a wonderful way to start off the day:

I heard on the ever reliable news (AM 950) this morning that the Detroit Zoo will be closing permanently in May, 2006. I had to wait until the hosts got into detail before I realzied what was just said.

I'm trying to figure hout how Kwame...wait, I just got it.

From what I know, the Detroit Zoo has been profitable, until recently. It's loss of profitability could be attributed to a number of things, but it seems that lower membership is one of the reasons. Regardless of profitablity, the Zoo appears to have a large surplus of cash. This is probably for when the Mayor of Detroit decides he needs to close an organization that seems supports itself. See the following PDF for 2002-2004 financials: http://www.detroitzoo.org/files/annualreport/financials.pdf

Regardless, Kwame Kilpatrick has ruined the City of Detroit and now he's taking the Zoo with it. This is a totally unacceptable situation.

Should we force this worthless leader out of office? How about donating to help keep the Zoo open? Maybe a private organization with some worthwhile managment experience could take ownership.

I can't wait to see what's going to happen.

public service announcement [Nov. 11th, 2003|08:40 am]

pay attention for specifics regarding my posting on here. they all just changed.

from here on out every post i make is friends-only.

i've debated this for a long time and it's now come to the point where i must do this to keep the bullshit/drama to a minimum. i'm obviously open about my life, letting all of you read it. last thing i want is for you to contact me outside LJ and say, "Don't do drugs" or "you know how stupid that was" or "you're an asshole" I just don't need that kind of shit. i'm old enough to make my own decisions and smart enough to know what their short and long range ramifications are on my life.

in order for you to read this you'll either need to request that i add you to my friend's list or you'll need to login as someone who is already on. there's a specific group of people i am targeting here (as well as non-users) and all of you are off my list already. regardless, read it if you can....if it's really that important to you i likely see you on a plus weekly basis. if you're just nosy, then you're hit.

if anyone on my friend's list values their friendship with me you *will not* intentionally or even accidentally let someone else read your friend's page/my now protected entries. yes, that means if someone else knows your password or you're not security conscious to use it (autologin with no screen saver password) you're at fault and i will consider it an act of betrayal. if i list you then this journal is for your eyes only. no one elses. i don't care if you are [info]denisbaldwin and [info]x736e65616b asks to read your page. say no. if you need an excuse it's because i will be using friends groups in thge future and because you'd be violating my trust that it's for *you* only.

you've all been forewarned. if you respect me this is a non-issue. if you don't, i won't be fucking around with you anymore. i will be very one-sided about this; there's no mistake to be made, so i won't think twice about forgetting about you. none of that *should* apply to anyone i listed, but it requires mention.

i'm taking this very seriously for one reason: i am tired of the bullshit and anyone associated with it. i'm sure you'll understand.

if anyone knows of a way to mass-convert or speedily singly convert past entries, let me know. i don't want to go back and manually change them all.

not like i write anything that matters anyways.

that is all.

i don't smoke, but i bought a pack of cloves and i am enjoying it. i won't go get cold to smoke, that's for sure. i'm leaving them in my car for the night. that's cold there. i think i might have one on the way and and one on the way out of work tomorrow. i don't know what i want to do about this...fuck.

at least [info]x736e65616b won't think i smoke bullshit :-) cloves are tasty and good scented at that. we'll see how this works out.

poker night was an amazing success! [info]denisbaldwin hosted a kickass party/time. alon with that came [info]x736e65616b, [info]steyt, and [info]nickfarr who i am still ever so pleased to have met. i got heavily intoxicated and played some fucking cards. following the main event of card playing at 653, we ventured down to MGM grand casino to meet up with [info]steyt. i lost some money, won it back, then promptly lost it again. a fun night.

after everyone else was done and i was all but unintoxicated, still, [info]nickfarr and i played a kickass two hour game of elimination poker. in the end he swept me up with a final showdown of baseball. good game, good game.

all in all i had a kick ass time with everyone and am so pleased that we finally all got together and that i got to meet NFF.

Take Free Advanced Big 5 Personality Test

The Big Five is currently the most accepted personality model in the scientific community. The Big Five emerged from the work of multiple independent scientists/researchers starting in the 1950s who using different techniques obtained similar results. Those results were that there are five distinct personality traits/dimensions. Here are your results on each dimension:

Extroversion results were moderately high which suggests you are talkative, optimistic, sociable and affectionate but possibly not very reflective.

Friendliness results were medium which suggests you are moderately good natured, trusting, and helpful.

Orderliness results were moderately high which suggests you are organized, reliable, neat, and ambitious but possibly not very spontaneous and fun.

Emotional Stability results were high which suggests you are very relaxed, calm, secure, unemotional but possibly too unobservant of your feelings.

Intellectualness results were moderately high which suggests you are creative, original, curious, imaginative but possibly not very practical.

i am deeply saddened when i see the great, timeless structures in detroit, stipped of their glory by assfucks. it's one thing to rip the furniture and the chandeliers out. it's another to take the elvator buttons and such. ahhh...oh well. i'm still feeling the carcinogenic effects from saturday. r0x0r, r0x0r.

i bought a 12W7 and a 500/1, both by jl audio. Should make the talon have some killer bass response/reproduction. now i need a box to house it...

i am absolutely tired of fucking toolboxes. if you are one and you cross my path you'll know it. i will *not* tolerate you any longer, sorry. i'm also growing restless...it's people and they're uter stopidty in there writing. i don't want to associate myself with people that aren't educated in spelling/grammar on at least a 8th grade level. yeah, read the newspaper. can't uderstand it? you didn't pass 8th grade, then.

i miss my love, Laura. her and i share the same views on many things. it's beautiful. i'm grateful to have such a wonderful woman to share my life with.

argh.
